One of the issues that many business owners in the early years sector have spoken to me about is the lack of trained staff with the skills and ability to work at room supervisor level or to be a lead with a specific early years’ area of work (at middle management level).

Are you finding it difficult to appoint high calibre staff for room leader posts or senior posts from nursery nurse/pre-school practitioner level?

Have you thought that this might be because there are limited opportunities for these individuals to gain leadership and management skills within the setting?

Smaller settings have little scope to give their L2 or even L3 trained staff the chance to develop these skills. This may also be an issue in larger settings for different reasons.

‘You have a post to fill, you need a L3 qualified person that can lead a small team and although you may have people trained to this level, who would also like promotion they are not quite where they need to be to take on the additional responsibility’.

Does this sound familiar to you?

If so I can help to develop your staff quicker and more effectively than needing to commit to long term training.

The added benefit being that you could then consider promoting from within, without the cost of advertising and the time required to shortlist, take up references and interview externally.

I can offer tailored packages of support to develop leadership and management skills.

Ideally for qualified nursery nurses/pre-school practitioners (trained to L3), or those that aspire to be leaders and managers or are currently working as room leaders and would benefit from some additional support.

For example:

  • A course of 6 x 1-hour Personal Development Coaching sessions for your team covering topics such as;

  • A course of 6 x ¾ hour Personal Development Coaching sessions for individual staff members focused on developing leadership and management skills and any related issues such as confidence building, assertiveness, dealing with conflict, problem solving, delegation or troubleshooting. See here for the details of how this works.

  • A package of support for your supervisory team/room leaders or any individual within your setting which would include the following;
    • Observations and feedback for staff member(s) working within their role
